Why we do what we do...
When Jesus was asked to boil down spirituality he said this:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and
with all you mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the
second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’.’ All the Law and
Prophets hang on these two commandments.
Matthew 22:37-40
We at Southwood are committed to: Loving God and Loving
People
This is our most fundamental understanding of who we are. All that we
do is an expression of this controlling principle. Jesus said that
everything hangs on these two commandments. We choose to take Jesus at His
word.
At the end of Jesus’ time on earth he told us what he wanted us to do
until He came back.
Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey
everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the
very end of the age.
Matthew 28:18-20
The purpose of Jesus’ church is to continue His work on earth. We are
