Thank You For Visiting Southwood In Cyber Space.
My name is
Craig Laughlin and I am privileged to be
the pastor of Southwood. If you have come this far I will assume that you
are contemplating visiting. I hope and pray that you will make your visit
soon. I
think you will find us to be a warm and welcoming group of people. We always
consider it a privilege to have guests with us in worship.
Let me tell you a little about Southwood
Church of the Nazarene. We are a different kind of church that is committed
to Loving God and Loving People. Our
worship services are contemporary,
positive, and vitally alive, no boring religion here. The preaching focuses
on applying in practical ways God’s teaching to our daily lives. The Bible
is the foundation of all that is taught. The latest in communication devices
are used to help you remember and embrace God’s great truth. We have an
exciting and active children’s program which is designed to draw children to
God as their loving heavenly Father. We accomplish this with a fast paced,
stimulating children’s church program called
Generation Shine. Additionally, our
Sunday School teachers focus on building
vital relationship with their children and strive to communicate God’s love
in a way that is nurturing and attractive. Our
teens are a great group that are committed
to God and His Kingdom. They recently traveled with members of our church to
Brazil to help construct a medical clinic
that ministers to street children. Adult Continuing Christian Education is a
program that focuses on helping adults grow in their spiritual journey. We
believe everyone is on a spiritual journey and it is our desire to
facilitate your growth and nearness to God.
If there is a word to describe the people
of Southwood it would have to be diversity. We are a multi-generational,
multi-racial, group of people that come from a very wide variety of social,
economic and religious backgrounds. The good news about our diversity is
that you will find us to be a very accepting group of people. We will not
judge you, or look at you funny. You will find among us people that speak
different languages, dress up or down for worship, have different colored
skin, have come from great homes and those who have come from incredibly
dysfunctional homes. You will also find those that are making it financially
and those that are struggling. You will find traditional families,
single-parent families, and grandparent led families. The bottom line is
this, we are committed to loving you no matter what. We want
to help you and your family move closer to God, embrace His healing for
wounds and experience the joy of vital connectedness to God and a loving
church family. We want you to be a part of the Southwood Family.
If this sounds like the kind of church
that you would like to be a part of, I invite you to worship with us this
Sunday. Sunday School and
Adult Continuing Christian Education begins
at 9:30. Worship begins at 11:00.
By the way, most people dress casually for worship but no one will look
at you strangely no matter how you dress.
By His Grace,
Craig Laughlin, Pastor
